 SureRound PierVoid® Product Information

Purpose:  SureRound PierVoid® is a concrete form that is designed to totally surround the upper portion of concrete piers. The use of these forms assures creation of the proper void under pier caps, pilasters and structural slabs. SureRound PierVoid is available in round, square and rectangular shapes with a full range of sealed interior diameters to correctly match each caisson.

Construction, Composition & Finishes:  SureRound PierVoid is manufactured of corrugated paper, with a moisture resistant waxed exterior and is designed to withstand imposed loads during construction. SureRound PierVoid products are available in round, square or rectangular shapes, all having sealed circular cutouts to correctly surround drilled piers. Square or rectangular shapes are designed to be used in conjunction with SlabVoid™ corrugated paper void forms, which create a temporary support for the placement of structural slabs over expansive soils.

Handling and Storage:  All SureVoid® Products should be kept dry at all times, prior to concrete placement. MSDS information available upon request.

  Features & Advantages:

  • Lightweight, easy to install
  • Full range of depths, widths, lengths and pier diameters
  • Custom made not to exceed drilled pier diameter
  • Custom built to size specifications and required strength capacities
  • Use with above-grade or below-grade concrete piers
  • Factory assembled; no field cutting

 The Wrong Way...

In this photo, standard void material was field-cut for use as a pier void. This application required the use of pieces of scrap corrugated paper to prevent the flow of concrete into the void interior.

In this photo, like the one to the left, standard void material was field-cut for use as a pier void. This application lacks complete and proper voiding. In addition, unlike the pier itself, the area surrounding the pier top is not round.

Standard void material does not conform to the shape of a correctly formed pier top. The use of small pieces to accommodate the correct shape is not an appropriate solution to this problem, as shown.

In this example a section of fiber tubing was used as a base, with a piece of wafer board to complete the form. Obviously, when poured, the concrete will flow into the "voided" area, resulting in no void at all.

While it may seem like a savings to create make-shift solutions to the construction of pier tops, these alternatives typically prove to be very inefficient in use.

 The Right Way...

The use of a preformed SureRound PierVoid® eliminates inefficient field cutting. The result is a properly voided pier top. This photo also shows the efficiency of using SureRound PierVoid along with other products in the SlabVoid® System.

The use of a custom-designed product assures that special applications conform to proper design specifications, while limiting the labor and associated costs required to produce these results.

The use of SureRound PierVoid® meets the requirements of a properly voided pier top, resulting in a much more cost-effective solution.
